7 DIY Cooler Hacks You Need To Know

There is nothing better than being outside with your friends and family on a summer day. Whether it’s a day spent relaxing on the beach or taking your kids to the park. Everything is all fun and games until someone gets a craving. You have your custom cooler packed with food and drinks? If so, did you optimize it to last the entire day? Did the sandwiches get soggy? Did you answer yes to both of these questions?
This usually leads to leaving your summer activity early, going to the nearest convenience store, and purchasing snacks and drinks for everyone. We know this all too well!
Why end a good day prematurely over a quench for thirst and flimsy sandwiches? Fear not, though, for Perfect Imprints has a specially curated list of DIY cooler hacks that you need to know for this summer.
1. Freeze Water Balloons
The larger the piece of ice is, the longer it takes to melt. So, fill up some water balloons with water and freeze them. You can use them as ice packs in your cooler, as they will take a longer time to melt. Plus once they have melted, you have all the supplies you need for a water balloon fight!
2. Makeshift Dry Level
Nobody likes a soggy sandwich. An easy fix for this is to purchase kitchen cooling racks and place them on top of your beverages. This creates an elevated space for the dry food to go while still keeping it all cool.
3. Freeze Your Drinking Water
This is the simplest hack in the book. Freeze all of your water bottles ahead of time and use them as ice packs. You’re more than likely going to bring water anyways. This hack allows you to pack water and ice packs all in one. When the water bottles start to melt, you have cold drinking water.
4. Don’t Forget The Lid
Let's utilize all the space in our cooler that we can. Get some velcro strips and attach them to Ziploc bags. You can secure the Ziploc bags to the underside of the lid. This creates the perfect place to store condiments and smaller snacks.
5. Add Some Light
Taking your cooler somewhere when the sun has gone down? Get some glow sticks and chuck them into your cooler. This is ideal when you don’t want to hassle with a flashlight, but you still want to see what you’re grabbing in the cooler.
6. Make a Cooler Map On The Lid
Organize the contents in your cooler. Then on the top of the lid put duct tape and label what is on each side of the cooler. The map will limit the amount of time the cooler stays open because everyone will know which side they need to look for a particular item.
7. In The Water, Float It
It’s a drag to have to get out of the water to get an ice-cold drink from the cooler. The solution? Zip tie pool noodles onto your cooler so that your cooler can float with you all day!
